Located in the historical H.W. Hakes Manufacturing Mill built in 1900 to manufacture shuttles, Scales Seafood & More was founded in 1999 by Randy & Karen Mogren. Now owned and operated by Chef Dean Dellaventura and his wife Shari, Scales is able to boast about having the freshest seafood around plus a whole lot more.
Dean & Shari’s talents landed them as contestants on NBC’s nationally televised show “The Chopping Block”, where they worked with world renowned master chef Marco Pierre White. They were also featured on Spike TV’s “Bar Rescue”. Chef Dean has won many awards with his dishes including the Newport Chowder Festival for his homemade clam chowder. He was also Millbury Bicentennial Chef for 2010 & 2011.

Couple to take reins at Scales Restaurant

“Local restaurant connoisseurs will have their own taste of creations by a celebrity chefs Shari and Dean Della Ventura, who appeared in 2009 on the national reality television show about new restaurant owners called “The Chopping Block”, were approved by selectmen at the meeting on September 27th, 2011 to assume ownership of Scales Restaurant. The couple, who are purchasing the restaurant from Randy Mogren, said they plan to broaden the menu and offer delivery service.”
